Postcard from Medibel Bartley to Kate Thomas. It reads: "Dear Kate. Got to Austin all right. Edward got in about six o'clock Sun. morn over the I. & G. N. He came into our train before we got up. Surely was glad to see him. Then in a few minutes here came Mr. & Mrs. Smith. We all had breakfast together. We are staying at the same place we stayed before. Mr. & Mrs. Smith are paying $22.00 just for room. We just have to pay $10.00. Did I leave my mirror? I just can't get along without it. I hate for you to have to send it but I surely need it. Will write more when I get some ink and stationery. Lots of love, Meddie."

A handwritten note on the back of the postcard, addressed to Mrs. Edward Bartley and Miss Lou Rayburn says, "I met Mr. and Mrs. Chapman at a big party given in their honor. They asked to be remembered to you. I have had so many lonely mt. trips - it is beautiful here and so cool. Lois Meade."

Ticket to the 1949 inauguration ceremonies. The ticket reads: "President's Platform. Inauguration Ceremonies. January Twentieth, 1949. Admit the Bearer to the Senate Wing of the Capitol and through the Rotunda Door to the President's Platform" and is signed "Carl Hayden, Chairman, Committee on Arrangements." The back of the invitation is signed "Joseph C. Duke, Sergeant at Arms, U. S. Senate."

Birthday greeting card with a red ribbon running through it. The card has a picture of an older woman surrounded with a wreath of flowers, and includes text: "Greetings from 'Mama Sue' on her ninetieth birthday, December 25, 1948."

Congressional Record page from the 63rd Congress, 3rd session. The page includes a speech by Hon. William Kettner of California in the House of Representatives, a letter written by W. R. Hervy, and another letter written by Motley, Hewes Flint, Dana Reid Weller, William Rhodes Hervey, and Samuel E. Burke, all past Grand Masters of Masons. The speech and letters are related to the Los Angeles investigation into "The Alleged Oath or Obligation of the Knights of Columbus."

The label has a picture of The White House and is addressed to "The Speaker of The House of Representatives." At the bottom of the label is text which reads "Perishable flowers. Keep from frost and extreme heat."

I feel a lot of it though. Ruth is in bed today with cold. Hope she is better tomorrow for we are to have turkey dinner with them Monday night. Have had a hard time getting a visit with them. Am going to Mrs. Thurman's luncheon. Then I hope I'll get rounding up - Robert just called - Ruth has bronchitis - I'm afraid our turkey dinner is off - Love, Lucy.
