The Apparel Mart Tapestries in Dallas by Bjørn Wiinblad

Series of folded pages that describe the tapestries commissioned to hang in the great hall of the Dallas Apparel Mart, based on the Arabian Nights stories. The first page provides background, with the handwritten text of the letter written by artist Bjørn Wiinblad describing the inspiration for the images; the second page discusses the process and shows images of the illustration versus the tapestry. The other pages provide text from the Arabian Nights for each of the five themes selected for the tapestries, along with images of the illustration and the final tapestry.

[World Trade Center Travel Agency #1]

Photograph of a travel agency in the Dallas World Trade Center. It occupies a small unit with an undecorated glass facade, with an unoccupied front desk between two short walls. Each of the walls contains pictures and advertisements to other places such as Walt Disney World, Arizona, and San Francisco. [Apparel Mart Docks]

Photograph of the docks at the Apparel Mart. [Trade Mart Signs]

Photograph of two signs at the Dallas Trade Mart. The upper sign states that "admission [is] restricted to registered buyers. Please show credentials at reception desk for passes." The lower sign gives rules of admission, stating that buyers have to register at the registration desk, friends of buyers or non-business individuals are not permitted to shop here, and a further stipulation saying "certain rules and policies must be adhered to at all times." The signs are tacked onto a pillar in front of a wall abstract stone patterns.

[Apparel Mart Great Hall Concession Booth]

Photograph of a large, square concession stand in the Great Hall of the Dallas Apparel Mart. The stand has a striped fabric roof and a square paper sign reading "SALAD BOWLS" currently placed atop it. Employees work the counter below, preparing and serving food to customers. Soda dispensers and condiments are visible on the square counters running along under the stand. Outside the stand are arrangements of circular tables, and the Great Hall's large stage, accessible by stairs and decorated by plants and a fountain.

[Homefurnishing Mart Beautyrest Showroom]

Photograph of the Beautyrest showroom in the Dallas Homefurnishing Mart. At center is an unfurnished mattress set on a box spring, without pillows or sheets. The mattress is set in front of a wall of light-blue curtains, and is behind low-wooden tables or benches, as well as a couch with a floral print at right. A display with pictures and information is hung on an illuminated sign to the left of the mattress; further signage includes display text behind the mattress (ostensibly knocked over), a circular sign on the mattress frame, and a blue display sign next to the floral couch.
