Transcription of Knao buu then (My Children's Food) as told by Daniel Tholung. This is a traditional story for children. This version was prepared by Sumshot Khular, Tony Khular, Joseph Khullar, Rose Khullar, Moses Sankhil, and Mangboi Tholung during a workshop in October 2005 under the guidance of SIL literacy experts at Bosco Reach out, Guwahati, Assam, India. The voice that we hear is that of Daniel Tholung, recorded at UNT in 2009. The transcript was translated with the assistance of Sumshot Khular at UNT in 2016.

Reading of My Children's Food
This record includes a full dataset generated in analysis of recording of Daniel Tholung reciting the story "My Children's Food." This formed the basis for a book published by SIL, written and illustrated by Tony Khular, Joseph Khullar, Rose Khullar, Moses Sankhil, and Mangboi Tholung; and written for a workshop in October 2005 under the guidance of SIL literacy experts at Bosco Reach Out, Guwahati, Assam, India. The translation provided by Daniel Tholung in 2010 was used, with the additional assistance of Sumshot Khular, to annotate the text at UNT in 2016.

Transcription: Retelling of Nosherwaane Aadil
Transcription of Niyam reciting the story “Nosherwaane the Just” in the Yasin dialect of Burushaski. In this popular story there was a king named Qabaat, who had one muslim minister, and one hindu minister. When one of the minsters explained that two owls were discussing the injustice in Qabaat’s kingdom, he decided to become a very just king, and earned the name Nosherwaane the Just. Transcription is done in Burushaski with translations in English.

Retelling of Shiri Badat
Transcription and free English translation of the recording of Raja Jamsheed Ali Khan, a speaker of Srinagar Burushaski, reciting the story of Shiri Badat. Shiri Badat was a legendary king of Gilgit who is claimed to have been very cruel and a cannibal who ate human babies. The story gives an account of how Shiri Badat's minister allied with a Persian prince, who married Shiri Badat's daughter, to have him killed. Khan claims that his ancestors are the progeny of the marriage between the Persian prince and Shiri Badat's daugher, whose name was Shamligas.
