Interview with Charles (Charly) Seale, who served with the Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Service during the flood of July 17, 1987 near Comfort, Texas. The flood took the lives of ten children. Charles was in the the first responding helicopter involved in the rescue operation and recounts the events, the search that followed, and changes made afterwards. Interview with Lois Lorraine Green Shaw and Evelyn Mills Shields who have been friends for 49 years and live on the same street. Lois Shaw moved to Kerrville with her husband. She attended nursing school and worked in the operating room at Sid Peterson Hospital for many years, and later as a geriatrics administrator at a care facility. She is active in her church, St. Paul Methodist, and has served on many community boards. She and her husband Charles (deceased) had seven children. Evelyn Shields graduated from Doyle High School, she worked as therapist at Kerrville State Hospital for 33 years. She enjoys cooking and is active in her church, Mount Olive Baptist. She and her husband Vernon (deceased) had four children. Both women are members of the Red Hatters. Photographs relating to the interview follow the transcript text.

This video is about how NBC 5 - Texas's first news station founded in 1948 when it was known as WBAP-TV - partnered up with University of North Texas Special Collections in 2014 to create an online news archive spanning the 70 years of the news station's existence. The NBC 5 archival collection is comprised of various audio-visual media, such as16 mm film, UMatic, Betacam, DVC-PRO, 2-inch quadruplex videotapes, negatives, slides, and photographs featuring the station's behind-the-scenes production, and it also includes broadcast scripts and research files. Archivists at UNT Special Collections are working to digitize and preserve this historic footage to make it available to the public via the UNT Libraries' Portal to Texas History.
