Still, while overt racism is less acceptable, more subtle and unspoken forms of racism still persist. How do we move beneath the surface in matters of race so that God's peace might be reflected in how we treat one another? J. C. Thomas will begin our time together with unforgettable monologues on white apathy and black rage. A panel will respond to the presentations and bring others into the conversation. Finally, a group of ACU faculty and staff will talk about their journey over the past two years to understand one another better."

While these songs have blessed the church, their range of both themes and exploration of biblical texts has been somewhat narrow. This class explores the possibilities for songwriting with the Gospel of John in mind."

If a church wanted its nature to be Missional, how would leadership act? What leadership gifts would be needed for a church to move 'from a place where' to 'a people sent' kind of church? What are the corresponding leadership tasks? This extended session will attempt to define these important tasks and provide concrete first steps for developing Missional leaders."

This word is attached to a body of literature and a growing movement amount congregations focused on a shift in how the church perceives its life in a rapidly changing North American context. Several congregations are expressing a desire to be more "Missional." But what does that mean? For the past five years, an organization, Church Innovations, has been studying congregations and their supporting networks inquiring about the potential for Missional change. Patrick Keifert, the director of CI, has worked with ACU and Churches of Christ to help us understand better both the challenges and potential for Missional transformation within our congregations. Pat and others will help us think more clearly about what it means to be both Missional and a Church of Christ."
