Announcement calling for the 16th District to meet at the Fall Convention in Odessa, Texas in order to outline the program for 1943.

A memo written to American Legion post officials, from Ed Riedel, Act. Dept. Adjutant, The American Legion, Austin, Texas, dated September 9, 1942. The memo reports, "Attention - Scrap Iron Needed." Riedel advises of Legion Posts "giving their cannons, guns etc. to put them back on the firing line against the enemy", offers advice for turning in materials that are needed and emphasizes the serious need of materials. "We must hunt out the hoarders of scrap metal, whether they be the individual house owner or tenant, the farmer, the dealer, the auto grave yard or the scrap yard and report those persons to the authorities who can and will commandeer the metal".

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Homer Garrison, Jr., Director By: Hill Foreman, Chief, Texas Highway Patrol, Camp Mabry, Austin, dated September 9, 1941. Garrison expresses his appreciation on behalf of Captain Lloyd B. Wyatt and himself for the assistance from Carswell in interviewing applicants for places on the Texas Highway Patrol.
