The Getty Education Institute has provided the participants with a summary of the DBAE Leadership forum that was held January 11, 1997. The summary describes all that had transpired at the DBAE Leadership conference, beginning with a speech from the Director of Getty Education Institute for the Arts, Leilani Lattin Duke. The context of the summary is positive, the recommendations from the conferences' discussion are being used by the Education Institute to inform long-range plans for educational reform, taking arts education into the next century.

Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter and Jack Davis, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to James "Jim" Surratt, Superintendent Plano ISD. In regards to the success of the 1991 summer institute in the implementation of DBAE, discipline-based art education and that the teachers and administrators from Plano worked very hard for the two weeks. NTIEVA has already begun to plan for the 1992 summer institute and need some materials from the district by October 15, in order to insure the continuation of funding from the Getty Center. Incidentally the second page of the letter is to Ronald Caloss, from September 20, 1991. The second page finishes the letter from the first.
