[...] Totals of 627 water and 1482 sediment samples were collected from 1529 locations at a nominal density of one location per 10 km2. From abstract: The uranium deposits in the Carlile quadrangle, southwestern Crook County, Wyo., are in relatively flat-lying sandstone beds in the lower part of the Inyan Kara group of Early Cretaceous age. The Carlile mine has the largest deposit in the quadrangle; the ore minerals are carnotite and tyuyamunite associated with carbonaceous material in a sandstone lens.

From introduction: This is one of a series of three reports on airborne radioactivity surveys in the United States. The reports contain the 185 airborne anomaly maps issued by the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission as a result of the AEC's aerial surveying program conducted from March 1952 to June 1956; two ground reconnaissance maps of Utah also are included. Most of the reconnaissance was done in the western United States.
