A letter from Henry Clay, Jr. to his family back home describing his trip through New York City, New York in 1917. Clay tells about his going to plays and staying in different places, all while having virtually no money. This also contains the envelope in which the letter was delivered in.

Handwritten letter from cartoonist Zack Mosley to Major Phillips, responding to a letter he received from the major. He writes that he has enclosed a drawing of his cartoon, Smilin' Jack. At the top of the letter is a stylized letterhead with Smilin' Jack's head and Mr. Mosley's signature. On the back of the letter is a stamp giving the Boyce-Ditto Public Library's address. The letterhead on the front is clearly visible from the back of the letter.

Postcard from Andrew J. Fallon to George Pendexter with a note from John Butler written on it; the note talks about sending for more cards with all of the "new auto horse wagons in Springfield, Mass." Butler had sent this card to Fallon and he then sent it on to Pendexter after crossing out the note on the card. The photograph on the reverse side shows a horse-drawn fire wagon with two firemen posing with it, one man is sitting in the driver's seat and the other is standing towards the rear. The vehicle itself has a large metal contraption in the back and an alarm bell mounted on the top of the bulb figure.
