Photocopy of a letter from Jack Davis and Bill McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Gene Davenport, Superintendent of Allen Independent School District. In regards to the U.S. Department of Education efforts in the arts and that Secretary Alexander has initiated the American 2000 Arts Partnership, along with the news that USOE and the National Endowment are funding the development of World Class standards for arts education. Davis and McCarter also write that they are pleased that the Getty Center for Education in the Arts has sent, to Allen's school board president, a package of materials related to enhancing student achievements through art education. Included with the packet is a questionnaire which asks for a report of any action the board has taken in response to the guide to enhancing student achievements.

North Texas State University has recently received a planning grant from the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, an operating program of the J. Paul Getty Trust, to plan for the establishment of North Texas Regional Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts "North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts,". Hurley writes that they appreciated Wright's support in obtaining the planning grant, and would like to invite Wright to be a guest for lunch and an executive briefing on the project at the Pinnacle Club, Interfirst Bank Building, June 17, 1987.

Davis and McCarter regret that Wright was unable to join them for the executive briefing on the North Texas Regional Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, "North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts" (NTIEVA), Wednesday, June 19. Following the briefing was an all-day workshop, Friday, June 21 which was attended by staff representatives from each consortium in the Institute, to discuss grant proposals which with offer opportunities for staff development and curriculum implementation in the visual arts. Enclosed at the end of the letter to Wright is information the functional committees and their list of responsibilities, for the upcoming Matching Funds Advisory Committee and Wright's assistance in its regard. Photocopy of a letter from Jack Davis, Bill McCarter and Nancy Reynolds, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Dr. Dean Anthony, Denton ISD. Asking if he recalls the lasting Advisory Committee meeting they had in which they set two priority goals. Their first goal to seek continued support for their Portfolio project and their second, to generate potential names for additional committee members. In the letter Davis, McCarter and Reynolds are pleased to report that the Edward and Betty Marcus Foundation has agreed to fully fund the portfolio project and it will be underway once their Summer Institute project is over. In the letter, they ask Anthony if he has any recommendations for committee members and to contact them through note of phone call. Additionally in the letter are details about the Institute's schedule for the summer, and a formal invitations for Anthony to join any them if his schedules allows.
