The Volunteer fire department has been expecting delivery of a new pumper fire truck any day. Tuesday night, firemen strung hose to fight a small blaze in the Granada theater, but nothing happened when they turned on the water. The picture at top was taken four hours later, after the fire ate through a half block of business buildings in the Garvin county city of 1,800 to pile up a damage total of $50,000."

Photograph is of nine unidentified men looking at the front of a building that had previously been on fire. Smoke is rising from the inside of the building the roof is gone and the front of the building is badly damaged with no door or windows. Bricks and debris is strewn across the street from the burnt building. Caption: "A downtown fire in Pauls Valley Tuesday threatened to destroy a city block, but was brought under control by firemen and a light rain falling at the time."
