This study examines the assumption that property is assessed uniformly from district to district in Arkansas.

Since the economic index is one of the two instruments which are so important to the financing of every school district of the state, and since the index is a hypothetical measure, it should be studied at regular intervals. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to re-examine the economic index used in Texas school finance for the purpose of determining its validity.

As new measures of aptitude are devised, their implications to education are a fertile source for research. All facets of aptitudes as they relate to education are explored. This study is concerned with such exploration in that it investigates the relationships between aptitudes, as measured by the General Aptitude Test Battery and selected major fields of study at North Texas State College, Denton, Texas. The major fields of study selected for this research are Accounting, Business Education, Elementary Education, Industrial Arts and Marketing.

The primary purposes of this study are fourfold, namely: (1) to summarize the writings of specialists in school finance and public finance which are judged to have significance concerning the nature, source, control, and measurement of local fiscal ability; (2) to develop an analytical evaluation of the "bases" of the proposed measures; (3) to develop a criterion of the relative taxpaying ability of Arkansas counties in terms of the actual valuation of real property; and (4) to determine the significance of the association among the three measures and the relative significance of the degree of relationship of each measure to the criterion.

The problem of this study is to compare the present practice in the field of leadership education in certain representative local Methodist Churches in the Central Texas Conference with 1) the procedures recommended by the Methodist Church, and 2) the specific needs of the local churches.

The primary objective was to investigate the effectiveness of short-term group guidance and short-term individual counseling with freshman college students. The design utilizes the method and procedure of comparing similar groups of students who received group guidance, students who received individual counseling, and students who received no counseling or guidance. A comparison of the ratio between self-ratings and objectively evaluated test scores before and after the study served as the basis for determining the effectiveness of the experimental variables.

The problem of this study was to analyze the answers given by four groups (grade levels) of elementary school children and one group of adults (college freshmen) to direct questions regarding natural phenomena, to classify their explanations, to determine the methods and types of explanations used by these groups when they explain typical natural phenomena, and to compare these findings with the results of other investigators, especially Jean Piaget and Mervin E. The problem of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using filmed courses in physics and chemistry in addition to the traditional lecture-laboratory courses in high school.

The purpose of this study was to determine the significance of certain factors relating to successful completion of the program by students in the Doctor of Education program at North Texas State University. Specifically, these factors were determined by a screening of judgments of North Texas State University graduates who had successfully completed the program, students engaged in the program, and from analysis of the factors derived from student records and research in related studies.

The major problem to be investigated consists of four phases: 1) the investigation of the relationship of sociempathic ability to self concept, sociometric status, mental ability, student teaching, and teaching effectiveness of elementary and secondary student teachers, and the relationship between sociometric status and self concept; 2) an investigation of the relationship of self concept and sociometric status to the teaching effectiveness of elementary and secondary student teachers; 3) a comparison of elementary and secondary student teachers on the strength of the relationships mentioned above, and on mean scores in self concept, sociempathic ability and mental ability; and 4) an investigation to determine if differences in self concept ratings exist among subject major groups of secondary student teachers, and to determine if there are differences between the sexes with regard to sociempathic ability.

The problem of this study was to determine the extent to which certain characteristics of teachers of first-year algebra were related to a) their pupils' attitudes toward algebra and b) their pupils' achievements in algebra. An additional aspect of the study was to ascertain and study the differences between Anglo- and Latin-American pupils' attitudes and achievements in algebra.

The problem of this study was to determine the interrelationship of intelligence, socio-economic status, and ten subtest measures of achievement in a selected population of high-school seniors. In addition to the general problem, the specific problems were as follows: 1. To determine the relative independence of dependence of each of the variables in relation to their influence on each of the other variables. 2. To determine the degree of predictive validity with which behavioral regression equations can be used in terms of intelligence, achievement, and socio-economic status.

This study was concerned with making a comparative analysis of reading skills development resulting from two different approaches to reading instruction at the seventh-grade level. The two approaches were: (a) instruction emphasizing specifically the reading skills, Approach A, and (b) instruction using the regular classroom activities approach, Approach B.

The problem of this study was to develop and analyze a useful approach to the professional development of faculty members in schools of business through the technique of self-appraisal. This study contained the following subdivisions: (1) a review of current college faculty development practices, (2) a review of current executive development practices within industry, (3) an explanation of the philosophy and technique of self-appraisal in professional development, (4) an application of the technique in six institutions of higher education, and (5) an analysis of results obtained from these institutions along with some suggestions for further research.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships between certain personality traits, certain situational factors, scores on the leadership behavior dimensions, and scores on the effectiveness and efficiency scale of selected school maintenance supervisory personnel.

The problem of this study was to ascertain the degree and kind of relation which might exist between a) certain measured indices of general creativity, ingenuity, and artistic judgment, and b) teacher judgments of artistic creativity within a senior high-school art population. One of the major purposes of this study was to identify a test or tests of creativity which might be used with senior high-school students to find those students with artistic potential who either should be counseled into art classes or for whom particular kinds of teaching procedures should be developed.

The problem of this study was to isolate some of the characteristics of tenth-grade girls which may lead to early marriage. The characteristics studied were: sibling rank, influence of a broken home, parents* education and occupations, mental ability, aptitude, scholastic achievement, study habits and attitudes, and personal problems identified by the subjects. A further problem of the study was the effectiveness of each of the characteristics in predicting the marriage of high school girls.
