Frederiksen Family Portrait

Studio portrait photograph of the Frederiksen family in front of a blank backdrop. An ornate table has been added on the right, on which one of the children sits. The man on the far right has been identified as Andrew C. Frederiksen. His first wife, Karen Marie Tarina Frederiksen, stands on the left with her right hand around the shoulder of Thora Marie Jorgine 'Doris" Frederiksen, her daughter. Her second daughter, a slightly older girl sitting in a small chair between her parents, has been identified as Olivia E. Frederiksen. Lastly, their son, Auderman Frederiksen, stands in the back with his left arm resting on his father's shoulder. There is a hand-written note on the back of the photograph but it cannot be read with certainty.

Corn and Cotton Scraper.

Patent for a new and improved corn and cotton scraper. This design "is to provide an improved corn and cotton scraper for turning or shovel plows for the cultivation of cotton, corn, and other plants, which is adapted to be attached to the beam of the plow without weakening the same by cutting or boring. The scraper is so arranged as to be adjusted either to the right or left, as desired, and up and down, on a central slotted foot-piece, by means of which the line of draft on the blade of the scraper is at all times the same as that on the beam of the plow" (lines 14-25).

Quarterly Occupation Tax Receipt Number 164

Quarterly occupation tax receipt given to P. B. Bundick of Matagorda County in Texas for his occupation of Ferryman. Mr. Bundick paid a total of $2.62 in state and county taxes for this particular quarter. The transaction was confirmed by the comptroller of public accounts, Jno. D. McCall, whose signature can be seen on the bottom right corner.

Insect Destroyer.

Patent for a new and improved insect destroyer. This design consists "[i]n a poison-sprinkling machine, the combination, with the wheels mounted on stub-axles, with vertically-adjustable rotary sifters in the rear operated by the wheels, of an arched frame connected to said axles, said frame having thills secured thereto, and an arched yoke having its ends bent outward to form neck-yokes and secured to the outer ends of said thills, and draft-arms secured to the sides of said thills" (lines 59-68).

Bust portrait postcard of a man identified as Hans Nickolas (Nicole) Hansen. He is in front of a light-colored backdrop wearing a bow tie and suit jacket over a light-colored shirt. Because of a probable mistake in the way the postcard was developed, there is a large black mass that covers the bottom part of the image. On the back, the postcard has been addressed to "Mrs. Gertrude Hansen" at "D & R, El Campo, Texas 77437 63-4330 C."

Studio photograph of J. C. Evers and his family posing in front of a light-colored backdrop and a set of pulled curtains. J. C. Evers himself is sitting on a chair on the far left. He wears a three-piece suit with a dark tie. A young woman is behind him on the right wearing a turtleneck top with a dark, belted skirt. Two children are in the middle, a girl and a boy; presumably siblings. A fourth person, an older woman dressed in dark clothing, is seated on the far right in a wicker chair. The photograph has been pasted on a stiff, cardboard matte surface that is chipping on the top left corner. Hand-written text on the back of the photograph reads, "From Abelona Wind Harton. Friends with family in Danevang. Evers lived in 424 East corner of second [difficult to read] from right."

Mr. & Mrs. H. P. Jensen

Copy print of an oval picture frame with a photograph inside it of husband and wife Hans Peter Jensen and Maren Jensen. The frame has ornate floral motifs on the top, bottom, and sides, as well as beveled edges and a continuous pattern of decorative circle reliefs running near the edge of the frame glass. The man and the woman in the photograph are both dressed in formal attire. The man wears a blazer and a waistcoat. The woman wears a light-colored, tied neck-piece over a dark-colored top.

Community Hall

Postcard of exterior of the Danevang community hall. Five cars are parked outside, within the confines of a small chicken wire fence. A small secondary, adjacent, single-story structure lies just to the right of the community hall. There are a series of three tombstones a few feet from each other in front of the building. On the back of the postcard, hand-written text in blue ink reads, " No 10 from Helga Thyssen for archives".

Four Danevang Homes

Postcard of a composite image of four homes belonging to the Danevang family. They are all two-story structures but vary in architectural details, number of windows, construction materials, and landscape elements. The two on top look to be more suburban in setting, while the two on the bottom appear to be located in a rural environment. There is no addressee on the back of the postcard, but various notes have been written on it. Rough, black patches of paper remain from wherever it was torn out of.
