[Artis Lane "Emerging Spirit" gallery and opening talk]
Video footage from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during the reception of sculptor Artis Lane's solo exhibition entitled "Emerging Spirit" held in the summer of 1996 at the Sherry Frumkin Gallery. The video footage shows the gallery space full of people chatting while mingling through the works of figurative sculpture depicting African men and women in stone, bronze, and concrete. Interviews and clips of in progress work taking place in studio break up the tape. At the 30 minute time mark the tape switches to unrelated content.
