Apparatus for Removing Cores from Cylindrical Cotton-Bales.
Patent for a "means for removing screw-threaded cores from cylindrical cotton-bales" (lines 12-14). It is made up of a wheeled-truck that is holding the bale, an apparatus that grips the end of the core, a way to revolve the grip, a driven shaft, and a universal joint that connects the shaft with the end of the core.

Chemical Fire-Extinguisher.
Patent for chemical fire extinguishers "in which the acid-bottle consists of two concentric cylinders, the inner one of which is open at top and bottom, and which, when the bottle is placed in the cylinder containing the water and soda, potash, or other material, a compressed-air seal will be formed, preventing the acid and water from commingling; but when the bottle is inverted the seal will be broken, and the water and acid coming together will generate the gas." Suspender Device.
Patent for a suspender device that is "a [rear] fastening device having a central loop, a coil, a keeper and a pin extending from the coil and engaging the keeper all formed from one piece of wire, in combination, with a slide having a linked portion surrounding and vertically movable on the central loop, and having a pair of ends or prongs projecting upward between the loop and the linked-portion of the slide to form tongues" (lines 81-90). Patent for a car-coupling that has a draw-bar attached to the car, a hollow draw-head with a flaring opening that sits horizontally to the draw-bar, a spring that holds the draw-head in the horizontal position, a bar that raises and lowers the forward end of the draw-head against the spring, a coupling-pin that sits in the draw-head, a chain that connects the draw-head to the bell-crank lever, a cam that supports the chain, and a device that turns the cam in either direction in order to tighten the chain.

Combined Horse-Detacher and Brake.
Patent for a simple and durable combined horse-detacher and brake that stops the car after releasing the animal. This patent simplifies a previous patent application (Serial No. 565,581). Both the horse-detacher and brake are activated at the same time by pulling one lever. The brake sits under the car and can hardly be seen.

Printing-Press.
Patent for a printing, ruling, and cutting press of a simple and durable construction. The printing press can print both sides of a sheet of paper and has adjustable guards so that the operator can print any size paper. The machine also provides a "means for regulating the feed of the machine for adapting it to print short or long sections or a newspaper as well as a small tract" (lines 20-22). The machine has two plates opposite each other, the weight of one counterbalances the other so double printing is possible. Any amount of ink can be supplied to the rollers, and adjustable scrapers remove extra ink from the ink drums. The uncut paper can be wound around a device if necessary. A drying-cylinder provides that the printed material has no blurs.
