A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Marguerite L. Murphy, District Passenger Agent, Chicago, Duluth and Georgian Bay Transit Company, dated August 31, 1953. Murphy advises that a basket of fruit, candy and a card was placed in the cabin for Mr. J. B. Dalton as Carswell requested costing $6.48.

The meeting minutes for the Hardin-Simmons University Board of Trustees meeting, May 31, 1948. The minutes include the names of students to be graduated; an amendment to Section 4 of Article 3 of the Constitution and By-Laws was adopted; recommendation to be made to the Executive Committee of the General Baptist Convention that J. C. Hunter, Jr. be added to the Board of Trustees. A motion was made by T. N. Carswell to discuss with Walter Jennings the possibility of having his address, made at the Ex-student banquet, published, approved, and distributed by Hardin-Simmons University.

The Alumni Association makes a request of Carswell to be the permanent representative of the Class of 1911-12 of which he was the student association president and, also, a member of the Alumni Association Executive board. Notation handwritten by Carswell and dated February 4, 1969 indicates he did not respond to this letter.

A letter written to Mr. T.N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from E. M. Collier, Superintendent, Hendrick Memorial Hospital dated December 31, 1943. Collier expresses his appreciation for the tie given to him by Carswell for Christmas. He advises Carswell that they miss seeing him at their church, however, they know he is doing a good job.

An itinerary for Thomas N. Carswell, Clerical Audit Supervisor, Travel Order No. 181, To Home Station, dated July 31, 1943. There are handwritten notes regarding tax, not paid, voucher number and an advisement, "just left off Capt. Simpson."

Klopfenstein expresses his appreciation for the willingness of Carswell to assist in the supervision of Subject 95040 in the case that Subject is not returned to the Ohio Penitentiary.

A Western Union telegram sent to The Governor, State of Colorado, Denver, Colorado, wiht a note that the same telegram was sent to the governors of Arizona (Phoenix), New Mexico (Santa Fe), and Oklahoma (Oklahoma City), from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Army Day Arrangements Committee, Abilene, Texas, dated March 31, 1941. Carswell issues an invitation to attend Army Day, that "General Key and the Mayor of the City of Abilene join in this invitation."

A letter written to Col. [Albert M.] Guidera, Commanding Officer, Army Air School, San Angelo, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Chairman, "Army Day" Arrangements Committee, dated March 31, 1941. Carswell advises Guidera of the plans regarding Abilene observing its first "Army Day" citing Camp Barkeley is located in Abilene and General Key as having authorized his command to participate assuring it would add interest if Gudera could send a unit or two to participate.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Parramore Post No. 55 [57], Abilene, Texas, from James C. Styron, Colonel, G.S.C, Chief of Staff, Camp Barkeley, Texas, dated March 31, 1941. Styron acknowledges his receipt of and accepts Carswell's invitation for the 45th Division to participate in the Army Day Program.

A letter written to Dave Green, District Commander, American Legion, El Paso, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Fifth Division Commander, American Legion, dated August 31, 1942. Carswell issues an invitation to attend the dedication of the Parramore Post building. Handwritten reply to Tom from Davis declines the invitation due to his involvement in The Legion when it is to be a guest to The International Labor Day.

A letter written to Mr. Charlie Maisel, Department Commander, American Legion, Phillips, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Fifth Division Commander dated October 31, 1942. Carswell advises Maisel of having just received a letter containing the name of the last district membership chairman. He explains regarding the names of Division committee members he has yet to receive and advises that they had a very good convention at Odessa.

"We trust the brief, as to locating the proposed Veterans Hospital for Texas in Abilene, will have the attention of your Board at the proper time".

Carswell expresses appreciation from Mr. E. M. Collier and himself for the courtesies extended to them while in Washington and acknowledges the information and encouragement Tynes gave to them regarding the location of a Veterans Hospital in Texas assuring him that they intend to secure this Hospital for Abilene.

Carswell advises that while in Washington he and Mr. E. M. Collier were in Connally's office and gives his assurance that Mrs. Carr provided the information they were seeking regarding a Veterans Hospital for Texas.
