The 'Preparedness Parade' symbolized a patriotic movement within the El Paso community that showed local support for World Peace by supporting the United States' entry into World War I. Ergo, the El Paso community was ready to assist with the war effort. The preparedness movement was a national patriotic movement and was not exclusive to El Paso. According to the El Paso Herald June 14, 1916, page 2; "8000 March for Preparedness; Thousands Wave Flags and Cheer - All El Paso Pay Tribute to 'Old Glory on Flag Day; Military Bands Make Stirring Music for the Civilian Marchers; Mayor Lea Leads Parade With His Two Small Sons; Many Firms in Line." Leading the parade was Sergeant Claude Tillman and his squad of men representing the El Paso Police Department; next, Grand Marshal John M. Wyatt and his aides, Lieutenant Eastman and Hecox, both USA; and then Mayor Tom Lea with his sons. Other groups present were: 400 employees from the Popular Dry Goods Company; Civil War Veterans; First Division; Women's Club; the Rotary Club; Doctors; Bankers; and many more.

Postcard advertising for two exhibitions at the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Texas. The first exhibition, Kisses, opened on February 14th, 1990 and closed on March 10th, 1990. The second exhibition, Erotic Art, opened on February 14th, 1990 and closed on February 23rd, 1990. The front of the postcard depicts a series of "kiss marks," all but two of which are trapped behind bars. The text reads "Let the kiss free!"

Postcard inviting the recipient to visit an exhibition of divine art to be auctioned at the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Texas. The Auction Party was held on December 14th, 1996. Divine art to be auctioned included "contemporary & traditional Retablos and Ex-votos," or votive paintings. The front of the postcard, which is blue in color, features a drawing of the Virgin Mary clasping her hands in prayer.

Postcard from C. A. Cagesen to A. T. Stockdale, writing that someone named Milt Hicks taking her for a ride in an automobile. The front of the postcard features an illustration of a herd of dairy cattle standing in the middle of a dirt road. There are two buildings with tin roofs visible in the background, as well as a group of trees.

Postcard to Mrs. Connie Austin. The sender writes that he has just arrived, that he thinks he will enjoy living in Boerne, Texas, and that he has seen lots of pretty girls. The front of the postcard features a photograph of the Kendall County Fair parking lot, in Boerne, Texas. There is a long row of cars parked on the left side of a large dirt lot. A crow of people stands on the other side of the lot, next to a large building on their right.

Postcard of a streetcar drawn by a mule or donkey. The streetcar is being pulled along a track in the center of a street that is bordered by buildings. The picture shows Matamoros, Mexico across the border from Brownsville, Texas. There is a letter on the back of the postcard addressed to "Miss Maria Sanchy" from "E. M." that reads, "Ni la ausencia y la distancia, ni el tiempo de no [v]erte; por ningunas sircustancias he de dejar de quererte, yours for ever." (Loosely: "Neither the absence and the distance, nor the time since I have seen you; under no circumstances have I stopped loving you.")

Postcard to John J. Herrera from Bernice, postmarked February 14, 1966, in El Paso, Texas. The front of the postcard features an image of a cavern with stalactites and stalagmites which is identified on the reverse of the card as Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico. The handwritten note on the reverse of the card reads, "Hi, Last card left. Bernice".

Postcard from R. P. B. to Junia Roberts Osterhout. Featured on the postcard is a photo of a grave for General Sam Houston. In front of the grave is a fence missing several posts. A tree is by the grave and behind it is another fence. In the background are other grave stones. On the bottom, R. P. B. asked if Junia was glad that a monument was going to be placed at the grave.

Postcard from Rose Chamberlin to Junia Roberts Osterhout. The photo depicts a rabbit sitting in the middle of a prairie and a tree off in the distance. On the side and bottom of the postcard, Rose wrote a brief recap of her day.

Postcard from Mrs. C. W. Metcalf to Junia Roberts Osterhout. The photo on the card is of a young girl. She is standing with one arm behind her back and is wearing a white dress and matching hat. Around her waist is a dark belt and she has on stockings. On the front and back, Mrs. Metcalf wrote that the photo was of Sou and that she wanted to hear from Junia.

Postcard from Mrs. C. W. Metcalf to Miss Ora Osterhout in Belton, Texas. On the front is a photograph of Mrs. Metcalf's house in Holland, Texas. She says that they "have lots of chickens to fry" and invites Ora to come visit. On the back she says that she would like to hear from Ora. The house is a small wooden cabin with a front porch. There are three small children in the yard in front. The card is postmarked Holland, Texas.

Postcard from Bob Thompson to Mickey McLernon discussing his flight training. The front of the postcard contains a cartoon of four servicemen playing cards under the phrase "Too Good to Be True!".

Card with letter from Greta M. Wales to Isaac Herbert Kempner thanking him for his letter of May 5th which was early and a full reply to her letter.

Card with letter from Miss M. Atkinson of Alfred Dunhill of London, Inc. to Harris Leon Kempner regarding his letter of March 11 and mentions that the piupe had been mailed back to him on March 4th and they believe that it has been received as of this letter.

Card with letter from Ray Freed to Isaac Herbert Kempner mentioning about a special board meeting for the United Jewish Appeal that's scheduled to happen on Wednesday evening.

Letter from Borderland Citrus Groves to Harris Leon Kempner mentioning that they'll give him the best quality of pinks, and that shipment will be made on November 16th. They also acknowledge his order and that they'll do the shipment for the order to be delivered in early Christmas.

Postcard of a fire department with a new motor ladder truck. One fire fighter is at its steering wheel, and the other six are standing along its side. A printed description of the vehicle is provided below the image. On the back of the postcard, the sender has left a handwritten message that says, "Dear Sir, nearly all of our Fire Department is motor driver, I will send them all each time we write & exchange with Chief all over the country. Yours Truly, Henry Woodward."

Postcard from W. B. Johnston to George Pendexter with a newspaper clipping glued to the correspondence section of the card. The clipping describes the technical features of the new "Chemical and hose Motor Car" which has a capacity of "700 gallons of water a minute." Johnston mentions L. D. Smith and a fire on March 25, 1925; Smith is possibly the fireman in the photograph on the reverse side seen going up a ladder into a smoking building.

The sender has left a handwritten message starting on the right of the image, and continuing on the back of the postcard.

Postcard from Rose Collins to Harry Bahl with an illustration of a man hugging a woman under an umbrella. This card is the fourth card in a series of six total cards, entitled "Relaxation." The note on the back of the card reads: "but then she has only been here two days and I feel sure there will be more. If you cant pay the damages I'll take it out in board at some distant date."

Postcard from Harry Bahl to Mamie Collins in Central City, Nebraska with an illustration on the front of two children standing on a sidewalk, the girl is crying and the boy looks bewildered; there is a caption that reads: "You're the only girl I ever loved - but I can't keep telling you so all the time." There is a short note written on the back that says: "This is a true answer to that fussy letter."
