He also requested that one of Mr. Watson's people look over his own approach to the franchise before a hearing was to take place; presumably, Mr. Salas had concerns about the company coming to San Antonio.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Roy A. McMillan, Major, Specialist, Asst. to Chief, Public Relations Branch, Headquarters Eighth Service Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, dated September 11, 1942. McMillan advises Carswell that he has attached a clipping along the lines they had discussed and, in a handwritten postscript, conveys his appreciation to Carswell for his efforts in having the phone company run him down on his return to San Antonio. Typewritten on Headquarters Eighth Service Command letterhead. The attached clipping contains an article titled "Specialists Commissions Open in Army."
