Vaughan expresses his appreciation for the kindness of the people of Klamath Falls who made his stay there enjoyable, and apologizes on behalf of his fellow Marines who may not have conducted themselves as well as they should.

Request from Justin L. Bible to release Japanese military equipment as his personal property. It reads: "SUBJECT: Japanese Military Equipment. AC/S A-2, Fifth Air Force, APO 710. 1. Request that the following items of Japanese military equipment now in my possession be cleared by War Department Agents and if released, be declared my personal property. 2. I hereby certify that these articles were secured on the field of battle and not secured on the Japanese mainland by looting. No ammunition or other explosives are included in this list. 1 rifle. 1 bayonet."

Permission for Japanese military equipment to be made Justin L. Bible's personal property. It reads: "SUBJECT: Japanese Military Equipment. TO: Whom it may concern. 1. The following items of Japanese military equipment are hereby declared to be the personal property of Justin L. Bible. This equipment is surplus to the various agencies of the War Department and its release conforms to the rules and regulations established by superior headquarters. 1 ea. Rifle #82798. 1 ea. Bayonet, with scabbard. Nil ea. Pistol, # (cannot be mailed). Nil ea. Sword. AUTHORITY: 8th Army operation directive #17 dated 29th Sept. 1945, Par. 9B."
