Toungate references a letter from Klopfenstein in which a report on Subject OP 95040 was requested. She advises that Subject has reported each month, the reports have been forwarded to their office and that the conduct and attitude of Subject is satisfactory.

Subject 108,345 expresses to Carswell his joyous feeling regarding his date of discharge which is to be on March 16. Gordon, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact, Sacramento 14, California (by Joseph R. O'Brien, Supervising Parole Officer), dated September 1, 1953. O'Brien replies to a letter from Christian by advising of California requirements for a subject serving a mandatory life sentence. Subject No. 17095 must apply for Executive Clemency from the Governor by writing to and supplying required information to Mr. Joseph Babich who will supply the forms to make application. A second letter is duplicate copy.

Yarborough expresses his appreciation for a clipping which outlined the provisions Carswell considers necessary in new labor reform legislation. He advises of bill, S. 1555 having passed in the Senate and is in the House but will give Carswell's recommendations every consideration if the bill is returned to the Senate.

A letter addressed to John Ben Shepperd, Secretary of State, Austin, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, dated December 1, 1951. Carswell advises regarding correspondence received from the Governor's office in California that indicates forms were missing in the application referenced. He further advises that the forms would have been misplaced either in Shepperd's office or in California.

A letter written to Governor Earl Warren, Sacramento, California, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, dated September 1, 1953. Carswell advises Warren of an application for Executive Clemency and requests that it be returned if something has been overlooked. He explains that he encourages his Parolees to make every effort to regain their citizenship and when their record justifies it he files the application for them. Carswell describes the rehabilitation of Subject A-9803, the confidence he has in Subject and that Subject has proved himself worthy of pardon.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Mrs. Leslie N. Brown, Office Supervisor, B & B Parkway Food Stores, Abilene, Texas, dated December 1, 1953. Brown advises Carswell of their inability to accept a check to cover the forgery check and suggests that Carswell contact the District Attorney regarding the check. She invites Carswell to visit them and see their new offices and advises him that her parents, the W. H. Bryants, are now located in Nocona, Texas and doing a little oil prospecting.

A letter addressed to Howard A. Carney, Secretary of State, Austin, Texas (Attn: Betty Christian, Chief, Parole Division), from Walter A. Gordon, Administrator (by Joseph R. O'Brien, Supervising Parole Officer), Sacramento 14, California, dated September 1, 1953. O'Brien advises Christian that they are unable to present the case of Subject 17095 to the California Adult Authority as a recommendation for final discharge since he has been convicted of Murder First Degree and is serving a mandatory life sentence. He instructs on the action to be taken should Subject desire to make application for executive clemency.

Handwritten note by Carswell dates the decision as needed by October 3, 1952.
