Correspondence between the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission (BRAC) and Donald Rumsfeld and between Jeb Bush and the Commission. In them, the Commission seeks answers as to why Rumsfeld did not include his additional recommendations for base closures in an earlier list. In other letters, Jeb Bush argues in favor of making Cecil Field should be made the Navy's East Coast Master Jet Base.

By the recommendation of Lieut. H. K. Redway Corporal Joseph Freeman is reduced to the ranks for absence and disability. Private Lovejoy is promoted to be Corporal via Freeman reduced.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Annie C. Whiteside, Registrar, Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, Virginia, dated April 1, 1942. Whiteside acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell and advises that "in view of the very uncertain conditions at the present time" she understands his unwillingness to make a room deposit for Peggy Anne this far in advance. She explains the necessity of the deposit but assures him of a place for returning students, only no choice of rooms.

Peter Chaille (misspelled Shally), and his daughter. She asks about how the enslaved people from their father's estate will be split among the family, saying she would like to have Nanny as a lady's maid if it is possible.

Letter from Andrew D. Campbell to Elizabeth Upshur Teackle. He teases her about flirting with boys in Virginia, discusses their shared acquaintances, including Henrietta Liston, wife of the British Prime Minister to the U.S. He talks about his family and the news of the wedding of Elizabeth's cousin Sarah Custis Handy to Ephraim King Wilson. He also talks about the marriage of Anna Teackle Smith to John Donnell of Baltimore and his dislike of her husband. He discusses the death of George Washington: "With you, I grieve for the loss your country has sustained in the death of your great Hero. Few are the ages that produce such characters, but we shall hope, as America is yet in her infancy, that she will produce many who will emulate him. Imagination can hardly picture one to surpass him. It is also a matter of consolation to reflect that he died in the zenith of his glory, in the possession of the noblest faculties of man to his last breath, and without experiencing any of those vicissitudes to which human nature, particularly in the high ranks of life, are so subject. Carswell requests a flower delivery for the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bartlett Hague, Jr. for when they arrive home. A sentiment which is to accompany the flower delivery offers congratulations, best wishes and ends with a quote from Sidney Lanier's "Song of the Chattahoochee". The reverse side of poem includes business letterhead of Little Tuffy Mfg. Co.
