Buck Garrett
"Buck Garrett - Man and Legend", True West, Jan-Feb. 1970, by Louise Riotte. Story includes recollections from Ardmoreites of events involving Garrett, his work in keeping peace in early Ardmore, his wife "Ma" Garrett, returning Clar Smith Hamon to Ardmore for trial, and many accounts of his generosity and concern. It is reported he never killed a man during his years in law enforcement, but had many fights.

Buck Garrett S Bud Ballew - Lawmen Exploits Recalled
Daily Ardmoreite, Feb. 8 & 9, 1970. Reprint of story of two early Ardmore lawmen written in 1921 by Bill Krohn. Accounts of their work in the Ardmore area are told, along with many shootings. Buck Garrett came to Ardmore at the age of 19 and served as a U. S. Marshal, an Ardmore policeman and Carter County Sheriff. Bud Ballew came to Indian Territory at the age of 14 and served as deputy to Buck Garrett beginning in 1912. At the time of the article both men were living,
