Patent for a new and improved wire stretcher. This design "relates to improvements in wire-stretchers for use in building wire fences, and also adapted to take up the wire and reel the same when it is desired to take a fence down" (lines 12-16). It consists, "with the main frame, of the inclined and slotted standards secured thereto, the boxes arranged on said standards, the pivoted pawl carried by the boxes, and a reel-shaft carrying a pinion and arranged in the slots of the standards and supported by the boxes" (lines 89-95).

Patent for improvements in cotton choppers and cultivators by using “the shearing action between a rotary hoe and a cutter-bar traveling along beside the row” (lines 20-22) to cut off the cotton. Illustration is included.

Patent for improvements in plows: "This invention relates more particularly to double mold board plows, but it is applicable to ordinary sulky and other plows having a rotary colter over the plowshare and friction wheel with acts as a rotating support or sole in rear of the plow" (lines 8-13).

Patent for improvements in cultivator-harrows in which an adjustable “harrow-frame is adapted to the ready attachment of cultivators, plows, sweeps, scrapers, and various forms of cultivating devices which are interchangeable with each other and can be used either with or without the harrow-teeth, according to the character of work to be done.” (Lines 80-86) Illustration is included.

Patent for a new and improved buckle. This design "is composed of two parts, the upper end forming what may be termed a 'buckle proper,' to secure the end of a strap, and the lower ends formed into curved portions which fit one within the other and constructed to interlock, so that the lower end is adapted to catch a chain, bit, or other device which it is desired to connect a strap to, the . . . parts forming a hinge, whereby they can be turned one upon the other and separated entirely, or at their upper ends to allow the adjustment of the strap secured thereto" (lines 18-30).

This book gives an overview of each of the six counties including history, important statistics and facts, and biographies of central figures. According to the title page, it contains "a History of this Important Section of the Great State of Texas, from the Earliest Period of its Occupancy to the Present Time, together with Glimpses of its Prospects; also Biographical Mention of Many of the Pioneers and Prominent Citizens of the Present Time, and Full-page Portraits of the most Eminent Men of this Section."

Patent for a device used for cooling milk or butter by means of evaporation so that there is a constant circulation of cool air around the milk or butter.

Patent for improved cotton sack carrier: "the object of the present invention is to provide a device whereby cotton sacks may be conveniently carried during the picking of cotton from one portion of the field to another without wearing the sack and with convenience to the picker" (lines 10-15).

Patent for a low cost, removable hoisting attachment for wagon beds, including illustrations and instructions.

Patent for a simple and efficient wire stretcher that aids in fence-building, tightening loose wires, cutting wires, and tying broken wires. The stretcher is similar in appearance to a wrench that can be taken apart in order to properly utilize the tool.

Patent for animal-poke that prevents them from jumping or forcing their way through fences. It consists of a yoke with its ends pointing upward, a brow band, rods that connect the brow band and the ends of the yoke, and bulges at the ends of the rods.

Patent for a provision safe that keeps food cool that uses "a jacket of absorbent material inclosing a suitable frame provided with shelves for supporting the articles of food, and a vat for containing water and supplying it to the jacket by capillary action whereby the temperature is reduced through the process of evaporation" (lines 15-21). This patent improves the design of provision safes.

Patent for a carrying sack meant to carry cotton to and from the field. It is not carried on a worker's back or dragged on the ground. The sack is on an adjustable axle and "may be arranged at an inclination to cause the truck to travel upon a curved line to facilitate the guiding of the same in operation; and furthermore, to provide a fender to prevent objects from falling between the cotton sacks and the wheels of the truck" (lines 14-20).

Patent for a simple, inexpensive, and effective combined churn motor and dasher that continuously and smoothly circulates cream. It has a large wheel the operator turns, which is connected through a series of pulleys to the dasher. A large frame holds the parts in place.

Patent for "improvements in envelopes or packing bags, adapted to be placed in an ordinary wagon, to receive seed cotton and similar products, so as to be transported from place to place, and means for elevating or removing the bag from the wagon and dumping the contents when destination is reached" (lines 12-19).

Patent for an ant-trap with an inflexible bottom with a hole in the middle, a perpendicular section rough on the inside and smooth on the outside, and the perpendicular smooth sides are attached to the edges of the bottom. The trap has a device that prevents the ants from running around the trap.

This book gives an overview of the twelve Blackland Counties of Texas in alphabetical order. For each county, a brief description of the geographic and agricultural characteristics is given as well as statistics on population and county income. Additionally, a geological description of the Black Prairie Region gives more specific aspects of the area and the soil compositions and a final chapter discusses the property market of the area.
