Photograph of Henderson County Courthouse in Athens, TX. A multi-lane road runs across the bottom of the photo, separated from a parking lot by a yellow curb. A single car sits in the parking lot in front of a sidewalk lined with parking meters. Beyond the sidewalk is the yellow lawn of the courthouse, occupied by tall leafless trees and short bushes. In the right side of the photo, four people stand around a tall bush while facing the courthouse. A concrete walkway in the left side of the photo leads from the edge of the parking lot to the set of stairs leading to the building's front doors. The entrance of the courthouse includes two glass doors set into white frames with a small triangular pediment above them while a larger pediment sits above all three of the building's floors, affixed to the edge of the courthouse's flat roof. Four white columns support the large pediment, two on either side of the front doors, and rest on white rectangular bases. Pleurobema riddellii, Specimen #571

One preserved mussel specimen including the left valve only. The specimen exhibits a round shape; moderately thick shell; white internal coloring; no external sculpturing. Collected in the Trinity basin. The specimen measures between 60 - 100 mm in length and was assessed to be subfossil when collected.
