Bloomfield Academy building located near Kemp, in Bryan County.
Bloomfield Academy building located near Kemp, in Bryan County. A two story frame building. This school was opened in 1852 by Rev. John Harpole Carr as an academy for Indian females. At the end of the Civil War it was used as a neighborhood school and later as a boarding school. Fire destroyed the building in 1916, and the pupils were transferred to the Hargrove College in Ardmore.
