A traditional folktale of Raapaa as told by Shetphong Sankhil at Thamlapokpi village in Chandel district, Manipur, India. Raapaa is a poor honest boy who killed the tiger. The best shooters tried killing the tiger but the poor Raapaa who shot the tiger with his grandmothers payaai and kling Khuu, which is a weaving implement, not an arrow, as he cannot afford to own an arrow and bow.

Discussing on the use of Nthil arnaa a leaf used for all wrapping purposes of food items from cooked rice, meat and other green vegetables. For big ceremonies they are used to wrapped saa buw or used as a plate in big feast like wedding. Banana plant explained in details, about the use of leaves for packing apart from eating the stem, banana, its flower called mot poh.

Oral History Interview with Gavino Fernandez, July 2, 2016

Mr. Fernandez was born and raised in East Austin. He says the segregation of the era led to very little interaction with the Anglo community. He worked as a shoe shiner on 6th Street for a while; he recalled the complaints of Anglo business people about "loitering" by African American and Mexican American patrons of the bars and cantinas. Mr. Fernandez talked about the conditions at the schools in East Austin, and about student activism at Johnston High School. The second half of the interview is focused on his work in city and county government and his involvement in labor unions and in local politics. Mr. Fernandez discussed the role of East Austin Mexican Americans in local politics and the relationship with groups like Anglo liberals and environmental groups. He also commented briefly on his involvement in the Austin Brown Berets, and El Concilio as a coalition of neighborhood organizations.

Interview with Mary Elaine Adamek Jones, who worked as a labor and delivery nurse, got her doctorate of philosophy in cultural anthropology from Southern Methodist University, and directed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Texas at Arlington before retiring after 25 years. She also taught nursing for 13 years at the University of the Incarnate Word in Kerrville. The interview details her father's career as an accomplished saddle maker, her education, and career, and family memories. Mary Elaine and her husband, Thomas, have two children.
