Interview with Elmer Duren, a United States Navy veteran from Louisiana, regarding his experiences during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 while aboard the destroyer USS Dale. Duren discusses his education, training, the construction of the USS Dale, and his memories of the attack.

Interview with Former professor, administrator, and director of the North Texas State University New Service James L. Rogers, from Denton, Texas. In the interview, Rogers remembers the desegregation of North Texas State College in the 1950's. He also shares his thoughts and memories on the admission of A. Tennyson Miller in 1954, the Adkins case, the admission of Mrs. Irma E. L. Sephas, the role of President J. C. Matthews in the desegregation of NTSC, and when Abner Haynes became the first African-American athlete at NTSC in 1956.

Interview with Lloyd Shipman, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Dallas, Texas. Shipman discusses his family and education, the impact of the Great Depression, joining the CCC and assignment to Bartlett, Texas, work as a typist, discipline and regimentation in the camp, daily routine, education services, recreation, and his thoughts on the impact of the CCC. In appendix are a chapter from an autobiography by Shipman, and two poems that he wrote.

Interview with Major Anna K. Schelper, a Army WWII veteran from San Antonio, Texas. Schelper discusses her parents, growing up, her education and becoming a nurse, joining the Army Nurse Corps, experiences serving throughout the Pacific Theater, service in hospitals after the war, continued education and promoting, and reflections on her career and being a servicewoman. In appendix are Schelper's Army service record, a letter from two former patients to the 23rd Field Hospital, a scan of some of her letters which were printed in a book, and a scan of some sections from The Army Nurse Corps: Yesterday and Today by Mary M. Roberts.

Additionally, Burns talks about his family history, his 1942 enlistment in Army Air Corps, being accepted into pilot training, marriage to Dorothy Perrin, life at Deenethorpe Air Base, England, crew members and their respective duties on his plane, various missions bombing German targets, his feelings about missions against civilian targets, opinions of Luftwaffe pilots and of Germans, and his postwar Air Force career, including service in the Korean War. The interview includes an appendix of photographs.
