Human trafficking is the fastest growing crime impacting every continent and economic structure in the world. Affecting every ethnicity, gender, and age, regardless of immigration, socioeconomic, or family status, human trafficking knows no boundaries. Since 2008, when Texas issued its first report on human trafficking in the state, there are five times the number of trafficking arrests and four times the number of human trafficking convictions. Compared to the growing number of human trafficking victims that are estimated to be in Texas every day, these numbers illustrate the magnitude of the crime and the need to strengthen our statewide efforts. The 2020 legislative report highlights the various collaborative efforts of the task force.

The 2020 Comprehensive Biennial Report on Texas Public Schools describes the status of Texas public education, as required by §39.332 of the Texas Education Code. This chapter of the 2020 Comprehensive Biennial Report on Texas Public Schools presents the progress the state is making on the performance indicators established in Texas law. These indicators were presented in Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) reports from 1990-91 to 2011-12. In the 2012-13 school year, the AEIS was renamed the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) to reflect changes in legislation. Detailed analyses of three key performance indicators can be found in Chapters 2 and 5 of this report. Chapter 2 presents State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) results, and Chapter 5 presents graduation rates and dropout rates.

This update "focuses on jail diversion and communiy integration as central themes in coordinated care that can significantly impact the four strategies [identified by regional groups]. Each rural-serving [local mental health authority]or [local behavioral health authority] choses [sic] a strategy within the theme that would best meet the needs of their local community, with 17 of the 30 having a funding source for implementation" (p. 1).
