Recording of Ake Parmerud's Renaissance. The piece is based, on the one hand, on Serge modular synthesizer sounds, and on the other hand, on some additional sounds coming from Renaissance instruments like the lute, the cromorne, the viola da gamba and the drum. The intention was to create a virtual encounter between the sounds, the methods of composition and the aesthetics of the two worlds, analogue and digital, on a distant canvas of timbres and medieval rhythms.

Recording of Michael Kapoulas' Pianolia. This work is a study in the extreme placement and movement of elements of the sound in the stereo field. Sound originating from a piano where the sampled and processed through analog and digital equipment. The final version was programmed on a Macintosh computer and mixed with partial automation using the time stretch-invert technique created by the composer.

La robe nue

Recording of Jacques Tremblay's La robe nue. Inspired by the work the masterful work of Proust, the composer decided to sonically depict text to sound, without directly quoting the text, by using electro-acoustic techniques. Over the re-readings, a sort of time travel to rediscover the present time of the story, it is the sound objects that weave the fibers of a memory laid bare. Whether quartet or horse, train or bell, each sound emanates directly from the sound environment which comes to life in the text, the section of the paragraphs giving its shape to the piece.

Third Dream From the Center of the Left Eye

This recording of Mark Canfield-Taylor's Third Dream From the Center of the Left Eye. This work is based on hypnogogic visions inspired by narcolepsy and is an installation consisting of a dimly lighted circular room with multiple video screens showing images. The tape music composition and the video images were intended to create a disorienting experience, as well as, multiple images flashed on the screens in the collage of sound and light. The nonlinear morphing of sounds represent personal experiences and feelings the composer faces.

Recording of Javier Alvarez's On going on. For baritone saxophone and computer/tape. The piece puts forward the idea of "out of sound" by juxtaposing the tempered saxophone played live with the computerized saxophone. The interaction between the two pieces ranges from minute changes in pitch to the clearly audible disagreement between them, especially evident in these sounds played in unison. This creates the evolution, sometimes with a tense atmosphere. This material is contrasted by percussive and rhythmic outbursts which in the context give stable harmonic cues.

Recording of Anders Vinjar's Coil. This work attempts to lead the listener on a journey which unravels present and distant perspectives on space and time. All the sounds are created with sound-synthesis language. Amongst the techniques which have taken part in forming the piece are various types of cross-synthesis, amplitude-modulation, cross-synthesis based on FFT and LPC-analysis, and granular signal processing. These techniques aid in forming the piece and create a piece between noise and tone.

Recording of Alba F. Triana Orozco's Suite Logique. For DAT tape. This work uses samples of an electric guitar and an electric bass as its main sound materials, and synthesis. The starting point for the micro and macro structural organization of the work is a system of proportions depending on a logical sequence present. The form is divided into five parts organized in the form of an arc, which appear as blocks or sound masses. Suite Logique shows the different faculties of timbre in systematically planned durations.

Recording of Jozef Malovec's Ave Maria Stella. Ave Maria Stella has been sung in monasteries from the Middle Ages to the present day. The lyrical poems have undergone various musical adaptations from the Gregorian choirs to popular songs, by numerous anonymous authors. The lyrical poem has a philosophical and spiritual orientation. This electroacoustic composition is inspired by the Ave Maria Stella made using electroacoustic sound transformations, embellished with quotes from different versions of this song.

Recording of Barry Truax's Bamboo, Silk and Stone. This is a collabrative work with Barry Truax, who realized the tape, and Randy Raine-Reusch who performed the source material for the tape (on the balinese suling gambuh, the Chinese guzheng, the Korean hun or ocarina, gongs and tam-tam) and who composed the live accompaniment which he plays on the first three of those instruments. The tape part is mostly improvisations gestures used by the performer. The work was realized using the composer's PODX system which incorporates the DMX-1000 Digital Signal Processor controlled by a PDP Micro-11 computer with software for real-time granular synthesis and signal processing.

Recording of Juan Blanco's 1789-1989. This piece aims to expose how the French Revolution, through the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, inspired the liberation movements of the people against the oppressive and tyrannical governments. The piece is divided into two parts, which give a sound panorama of the triumph, using electronic and acoustic equipment, the latter taken from songs of the time: "Departure to Place de la Bastille"; "Place and capture of the Bastille", "Lamentation of Louis XVI" and "The Permanent Guillotine", and ends with a few words from the Declaration of 1789, in French.

Para Bla

Recording of Enrique Belloc's Para Bla. This work is dedicated to the composer's daughter, Barbara. This composition does not intend to transcribe the spirit of poetry into musical discourse, but rather to pay homage to the creative nature of the writer. The work offers both, and in a veiled way, the use of a certain rhythmic gesticulation specific to techno music and the use of pitch as a type of sound material, without letting it appear for so much the notion of tonality.

Recording of Antonio Moliterni's Pagina Blanca. This work was inspired by 1970s rock. Every sound was created by the Kawai K5 synthesizer, with an additive synthesis generated and two oscillators in the differing techniques. The first one, in parallel (64 harmonics for each osc) and the second one, series (128 partials for each oscillation).

Recording of Jorge Luis Sad's Vox II. The composer used some sound from a former piece "VOX". The basic intention of this piece was continuing the exploration of sound materials and gestures of ethnic and "art" music. The sounds are present in small fragmental groups. Samples were taken from rock singers (Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel) percussion instruments from Bali and then processed using music software developed at CCRMA (SMS and CLM) on a NeXt Computer, and an AI Korg processor.

Recording of Ákos Rozman's Klagovisor. This work is written in memory of the composer's mother. The use of an old dried-out zither is used within the piece. Recording of Francisco Kropfl's Dialogos 1. This work uses complexes of short of electronic sounds with long reverberations of the round 10 seconds each, thanks to the natural reverberation chamber build at the studio at that time. The name of the piece relates to the "dialog" between the long transparent sounds obtained through the aforementioned procedure and the original electronic pulses.

Recording of Francisco Kröpfl's Nocturno. The intention of this work is to produce a piece for work without great contrasts. Comprised of three sections: the first of slow evolution is the slow and constant in one harmonic patern. In the second section this material is re-elaborated obtaining irruptive sounds, similar to sleigh bells. Oriented movement is detained in the third section by a group of consonant related eight sounds of fixed pitch derived from the harmonic structure of the first section. Produced by means of a Buchla voltage controlled synthesizer.
