Patent for a new and improved baling press. This design consists in "[t]he combination of the horizontal driving-screw, the plunger, connections between the plunger and the screw, the endwise-moveable vertical shaft, gearing between the said shaft and the driving screw, the lever supporting said shaft, the [other] lever and the links connecting the [latter] lever with the [former] lever" (lines 33-39).

Patent for a new and improved animal trap. This design consists in "the combination of the base-board having the opposite recesses and the transverse shaft, the yoke having the spring-coils mounted on the projecting ends of the shaft in said recesses, the standard having the holding-rod, the trigger, and the guards or prongs secured in the base-board" (lines 20-26).

Patent for an improvement in animal shears to "simplify and improve the construction of animal-shears, and render their operation more positive and reliable" (lines 11-13).

Patent for a new and improved wrench. This design "relates particularly to a combined pipe and nut wrench, and has for its object to provide a wrench of the class described which can be quickly changed to an ordinary wrench . . . [the] invention consists of a shank having a rigid jaw attached thereto, a movable jaw adjustable on the shank and an eccentrically-headed lever pivoted to the rear end of the movable jaw and bearing on the shank adapted to separate the rear end of the movable jaw and said shank to throw the forward end of the movable jaw closer to the rigid jaw" (lines 7-22).

Patent for a new and improved wrench. This design "has for its object to provide a tool especially adapted for a pipe-wrench, but also capable of use as a monkey-wrench. A further object of the invention is to construct a wrench with practically two handles, one of which is capable of use as a lever to disengage the jaws from the pipe and to adjust the upper jaw to and from the lower jaw" (lines 8-16).

Patent for a new and improved vault or cell for outhouses. This design "consist[s] of the combination of a vault made of impervious material and provided with wheels on its bottom, with a housing and an inclined cover secured above it at the rear and having a seat and hopper in the house, and a receptacle located within the vault and closely fitted to the mouth of the hopper" (lines 5-12).

Patent for "a machine adapted to cut or halve a lemon and extract the juice therefrom and cast away the rinds at one and the same operation. . .[and also directs] the juice of each half through separate channels, whereby two glasses may at the same time receive their proportionate allowance of lemon-juice to be subsequently converted into lemonade" (lines 10-19),

Patent for a new and improved wagon brake. This design consists, "with the vehicle, of the rock-shaft arranged upon opposite sides of the rear wheels, the bell-crank lever fulcrumed on the body between said shaft, the rod connecting the rear shaft and one arm of said lever, the bar pivoted to the other arm of the lever and the front rock-shaft, and the operating lever provided with the integral arm arranged at an angle to the lever and connected with the front rock-shaft" (lines 92-101).

Patent for a new and improved vapor burner. This design consists, "with the mixing-chamber having a burner connected therewith, of a water chamber and an oil chamber arranged beneath the said mixing chamber, the threaded tube seated in the bottom wall of the water-chamber and extending up into the mixing-chamber, and the air-induction tube leading from beneath the oil-chamber up through the threaded connecting-tube to the mixing chamber" (lines 112-121).

Patent for a new and novel design for a wind wheel.

Patent for a new and improved velocipede. This design "has relation to that class of velocipedes in which the rider is suspended within a large wheel impelled by a frictional contact between the inner periphery of the same and the driving wheel" (lines 8-12). With this design, "by the increased size of wheel, not only is speed gained, but the same may be propelled with greater ease over rough or smooth roads and with greater comfort to the rider, in that the jolt is less, and yet at the same time all the benefits arising from this class of exercise are obtained" (lines 27-34).

Patent for a new and improved plow. This design "has for its object to construct a plow with a detachable point, which may be removed from the plow in an easy and convenient manner and which may be held securely attached to the plow without the use of bolts" (lines 8-13). It consists in "the combination of a pair of clamping-plates, a seat or base-plate having a downwardly-extending flange secured between the front ends of said plates, said base-plate being provided with a transverse slot, the mold-board and point provided at their meeting edges with flanges" (lines 85-91).

Patent for improvements in plows so that it can be adjusted more easily while being overall easy to operate.

Patent for a new and improved gate latch. This design consists in "[a] gate-latch comprising a slotted-sleeve, a pivoted and spring-actuated latch-plate, and a bolt mounted to turn in the latch-plate and extend through the sleeve, and provided with a transverse pin" (lines 98-102).

Patent for a new and improved fire-kindler. This design "consist[s] of a tapered tube having lap-jointed edges, a retaining or clamping collar to hold said edges in position, perforations near the larger end, and the overbent flexible strips, said tube being packed with asbestus or other absorbent" (lines 77-82).

Patent for "a stock-feeder which shall permit of the feeding of a measured quantity of food to cattle in the barn or stable from a point remote, so as to enable the farmer or any of the members of his family to feed the cattle from the dwelling without going out into the weather" (lines 7-13).

Patent for a new and improved riveting machine. This design "consist[s], essentially, of an upright-frame having a vertically-movable driving-rod therein, a vertically-separable set loosely mounted upon the lower end of the driving rod, and a stationary upright removably mounted in the frame beneath the driving-rod and set, [and] said upright having a spring-actuated sleeve extending above the upper end thereof" (lines 66-74).

Patent for a new and improved toy. This design consists in "a pedestal or support and mount[ed] on the upper end thereof a vertically disposed rod having its upper end tapered or reduced, so as to afford the least possible friction to the whirling figure mounted thereon" (lines 16-21). In practice, "the toy is placed in a position to be struck by wind, and as the same comes in contact with the blades the object will simultaneously be whirled upon the rod and its arms move rapidly around its shoulders, thereby affording amusement" (lines 54-59).

Patent for "a machine of this class which shall be simple, durable, and inexpensive, which may be readily converted from a corn into a cotton planter, and vice versa, which may be easily and effectively adjusted so as to plant the corn in hills at any desired distance apart, and which shall be in every respect convenient and efficient" (lines 10-17).

Patent for a device which destroys cotton worms "in which the cylinders [holding the poison] are adapted to be both vertically and laterally adjustable with respect to the height of the cotton and width of the rows" (lines 18-21).

Patent for a new and improved refrigerator. This design is "for use without ice, the cooling effect being secured by the evaporation of water. Consequently the apparatus will be most effective when exposed to a current of air. The apparatus is formed with a suitable framing, having its sides closed in with wire-gauze to permit the free circulation of air, and at the same time exclude insects and the like. At one side a door affords access to the interior of the refrigerator, and legs serve to hold its bottom above the floor or other support on which the refrigerator stands" (lines 16-28).

Patent for a new and improved power device for baling presses. This design "relates to certain new and useful improvements in power devices for baling-presses of that class wherein is employed a disk rigidly fixed to the shaft of the crank and a disk loosely mounted on said shaft; and it has for its object to improve upon prior constructions of this character. [This design] hinge[s] the lugs on the loosely mounted disk, and, preferably, place a spring between the said lug and the disk, so that either the weight of the lug or the force of the spring will project or suspend the lug" (lines 13-24).

Patent for a new and improved rack. This design consists in "[t]he rack comprising the sills, the crossed bars secured thereto and to each other at their intersecting parts and forming triangular sides, said crossed bars having the projecting ends, the cross-slats connecting the crossed bars and arranged in the angles thereof, and the extension comprising the inclined bars, the short crossed bars secured at right angles thereto, and the slats connecting the bars at the angles formed thereby, the said bars being detachably bolted to the projecting ends of the inclined bars of the rack" (lines 16-28).

Patent for a new and improved electric insulator. This design "comprises a pair of fixed metal jaws or flanges having a common base of the same material integral therewith, and having between them a recess or groove for the reception of a wire, a key seat or slot passing through both jaws near their point of permanent union, and rounded off or made with a concave surface at its outer side, and a key or wedge convexly rounded on one side of its surface to correspond with said slot and adapted to be driven therein and to pass through both jaws and thereupon to hold the wire in said recess" (lines 27-38).
