[Letter from Albert Sydney Burleson to Dr. Joseph Pound, February 22, 1907]
Letter from Albert Sydney Burleson to Dr. Joseph Pound detailing instructions on how to apply and be provided an increase in pensions from $12 to $16 as per his service in the Mexican American War. There is an enclosed document that shows the actual act of Congress that was passed to gain this increase; in part the act reads: "any person who served ninety days or more...during the late civil war or sixty days in the war with Mexico...be entitled to receive a pension as follows..." There is a three-tiered pension setup, those who are sixty two years or older gets $12, seventy years get $16, and seventy five or older get $20.
