A General Purpose Log Counting Rate Meter Model B

Abstract: This report is a brief description of a general purpose logarithmic counting rate meter developed at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. The theory of operation and the circuit design are discussed. The use of a diode as a logarithmic element in the integrating circuit allows extremely accurate counting rate determinations over a five decade range.

Aerodynamics of slender wings and wing-body combinations having swept trailing edges (open access)

Aerodynamics of slender wings and wing-body combinations having swept trailing edges

From Introduction: "In the present paper, a general method is developed for solving low-aspect-ratio problems involving shed vortex sheets. Both direct and inverse problems are considered. The method is applicable for all planar problems where the velocity boundary conditions can be made homogeneous by differentiation in either the streamwise or the spanwise directions."

Injury Experience in the Coking Industry, 1951

From Introduction and Summary: "Reports from operating companies showed that 25,715 men worked at coke ovens in 1951, about 6 percent more than were employed in 1950 and, except in 1943, the largest work force since 1930, when 28,139 men were employed. The work time for all employees was 70,190,493 man-hours. The returns indicated an average of 344 work days per man as compared with 341 days in the previous year. Accidents at the ovens resulted in the death of 10 and injury to 768 workers, both of these figures representing fewer injuries than in 1950."
