Carswell; 1st Lieutenant - Louis Agee, Edmund C. Yates, J. C. White, Dave Mauldin, Roy Johnson; 2nd Lieutenant - W. R. (Ruck) Sibley), Clyde Fulwiler, Allen A. McGehee, Joe Williamson, O. P. Beebe. Signatures included: Will W. Hair, R. M. Wagstaff, Paul McCarty, H. C. West, R. T. Gray, Sid McAdams, W. P. Wright, R. G. Boger, J. D. Perry, W. O. Boney, D. H. Vaughn, Carl P. Hulsey.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Parramore Post No. 57, The American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Sidney C. Mason, Lieut. Col., 142nd Infantry, Adjutant General's Department, State of Texas, Austin, dated October 17, 1940. Mason acknowledges the receipt of the application for authority to organize units of the Texas Defense Guard. He suggests that Carswell modify the program to consist of three companies at Abilene and one at Merkel thereby making one complete battalion in that vicinity.
