Caption: "A packed auditurium of 1,500 saw the graduation exercises for 256 senior Monday night at Oklahoma City University, and several hundred other persons were unable to get inside for the Ceremonies. Fred Farrel Florence, president of the Republican National bank of Dallas and director of more than a dozen large industries (?) (?) addressed the group on "Leadership : A priceless Asset." He said there is a great need for leaders in the country, who will continue to (?) the horizons of progrss steadily forward. The businessman, philanthropist and industrialist praised the part universities and colleges are playing to meet this challenge. He also said there is a great need for technical skills in today's complex society. "The OCU graduates of 1956 need only to turn around to be challenged by the great expanding southwest." Bishop W. Angie Smith introduced the speaker. After the talk Dr. C. Q. Smith, president of OCU, accepted the graduating class. Following the presentation of degrees, Florence was awarded an honorary doctrate of law degree by the Methodist university. He holds a similar honorary degree from Westminister college."
