Water Conservation; Water Erosion; Flooding and Prevention

Photograph of stock water pond. Pipe installations are 16 inches [in diameter?], ½ inch thick and 180 feet long with 4 seep rings, each 6 inches square. The stockwater pond was constructed under a pooling agreement with the adjoining landowner, Ralph Ottinger. Also designed to store floodwater to protect bottomland on 3 farms below. The pipe is used as the principal spillway and has sandrock for the emergency spill. From left to right: L. B. Newly Constructed Terrace Outlet

Photograph of a UNIDENFIED man kneeling in a newly constructed terrace outlet. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Terrace outlet constructed with plow, 10 ft. wide at top and 20 ft. wide at bottom, in 1948. Seeded to 50 lbs. western wheatgrass; fertilized with 200 lbs. 5-10-5. Terraces will be constructed in summer of 1949 if outlet is sodded well enough."
