Caption: "Barefoot and clad only in pajamas, an Oklahoma City family of three fled their home in near zero weather Saturday when fire swept away their roof and ate its way down the walls at 9201 N Bryant. Vollie Ellis, his wife, and a son home on vacation were routed by the blaze about 5 a.m. Shivering firemen fought the blaze more than 3 hours with water turning to ice almost as soon as it struck the ground...The blaze apparently started in a hot water heater, however, actual cause of the fire is not known. Ellis said he awoke when he heard the fire crackling in an adjacent room. the entire room was engulfed in flames, he said......Damage estimated were expected to reach $10,000. Ellis said he will rebuild the home. Ellis and his wife, a Horace Mann Elementry school teacher, will live with relatives while the home is rebuilt, he said. Two early model automobiles, both collector's items, a 1934 Packard and a 1932 Cadillac, narrowly escaped the fire. One was parked outside the home and the other in the garage. Both relics belong to their son, Donald, …
