A letter written to Senator Tom Connally, U. S. Senate, from T. N. Carswell, dated February 18, 1946. Carswell states his opinion of Mr. Pauley advising that he does not believe Pauley possesses the moral integrity required to qualify for responsible governmental service requesting, therefore, that Connally oppose his confirmation as Assistant Secretary of the Navy. Carswell also offers insight regarding world peace; "In the matter of dealing with Russia it appears to me we are pursuing a course of appeasement and compromise that will as surely end in disaster as did a comparable policy in dealing with our recent enemies―will result in our subservience―Civil War came in spit of all Clay's compromises."

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from Milton Whiting, Whiting Oil Company, Clifton Forge, Virginia, dated February 18, 1946. Whiting acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell and advises that a car may be available around May 1st providing more cars are manufactured. He lists three models and their approximate prices.

Letter from John Sayles to Perry Sayles confirming receipt of the deed and discussing Perry's license to practice law that should be obtained at the end of the summer.

Letter from W. M. McMurray to Sayles & Sayles confirming receipt of papers that Sayles sent. McMurray states he filed an answer in the suit and had judgment filed there as well. McMurray says he will send them the cancellation certificate as soon as he can. He returns the tax receipts sent by Sayles.

Letter to Will Stith asking about the status of legal documents for the Hattie Irvine lots. The writer does not want a quitclaim deed if Irvine has the deed they are missing.

Letter from J. A. Martin to Sayles and Sayles discussing title papers to the Dillahaughty land and mailing complications. Martin asks for confirmation upon receipt of the papers. Martin asks them to rush their abstract as much as possible.

Document in cause no. 36-B, the State of Texas vs. Mrs. Hattie M. Sayles, stating that Sayles has paid her taxes for the years 1885-1891, 1894, and 1901 for her property in San Jacinto County, Texas, and that the state is liable for court costs. This order is unsigned.
