The weather bureau said .66 inches of rain fell at Will Rogers Field during the two-hour torrent, most of it in 20 minutes. Winds up to 40 miles per hour were also registered as the storm struck about 1 p.m. The storm dropped the city's temperature 14 degrees in an hour, from the day's high of 87 at noon, to 73 at 1 p.m. the new downpour, added to that which fell here Thursday night, amounted to a total of 2.08 inches during the 24-hour period ending at 6 p.m. Friday. Tinker Air Force Base had a reading of 3.86 inches. Portions of Nichols Hills and Bethany were without electrical power for a time during the height of the storm. Wind, coupled with lightning, knocked out the NW 84 substation of the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. Service was restored in 20 minutes, a company spokesman said. The water from Oklahoma City's leased storage space at Canton was diverted about 4 p.m. Wednesday from Lake Overholser to Lake Hefner, with the full flow moving into Hefner by Wednesday night. Overholser was full Thursday and water was moving through the canal to Hefner at the rate of 1,000 cubic feet per second."

No, but motorists thought so Friday as they drove by and saw a man on the new 10-story National Foundation Life Bldg., at 3535 NW 58. The man in the picture isn't a paintwer - he's a window washer. White paint covered the entire exterior of the new building after painters sprayed the concrete pillars seperation the windows. The lone window washer needed thousand of buckets of water as he followed painters around the building Saturday and some of the white paint was still there. So was the window washer."
