Walch, recognized internationally for his religious art and sculpture, has put more than a year's labor into seminary project. For the last 10 months, he has worked day and night to turn out statuary, altars, stations of the cross, altar silver, portraits and other art designs for the seminary's entrance area and chapel. The chapel, one of the city's religious showplaces, will attest the rich versatility of father Walch's talent......A majestic 17-foot statue of St. Fancis, garbed in episcopal robes, dominates the exterior chapel wall.Designed by Father Walch, it was finished by Kansas City sculptur Bernard Frazier......A larger-than-life figure of Christ will adorn a 12-foot crucifix above the main altar, also Father Walch's design. Chapel walls and the main altar are constructed of varying shades of marble imported from Italy and Yugoslavia. Symbols of orders of the priesthood decorate floor of the St. Francis de Sales chapel.
