A letter addressed to Governor Knight, Sacramento 14, California, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board dated December 2, 1953. Carswell requests a telephone conference regarding the recommendation of a commutation of sentence for Subject No. 17095 which has not yet been acted upon. A handwritten notation by Carswell indicates having read a reply given to Subject from Governor Knight advising that Governor Warren had turned down the request before he left office December 3, 1953.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Americanism Committee, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Chas. A. Hazen, Managing Editor, The Shreveport Times, Shreveport, Louisiana, dated December 2, 1941. Hazen advises Carswell that he was asked by Mr. Ewing to answer the letter requesting a definition of Americanism and proceeds to define Americanism.
