Hame Tug.

Patent for a new and improved hame-tug. This design "relates to a hame and trace attachment, having for its object to provide a simple, strong, and durable device to connect the front end of the trace chain or strap to the hame, whereby the movement of the said chain or strap is prevented from wearing the parts, and thus necessitating frequent repair or replacement" (lines 9-16).

This design "is to provide for hand-cars a motive power which will produce a high rate of speed and which will enable a hand-car to be propelled in either direction without necessitating turning the car end for end" (lines 9-14). It consists of "an opening in its platform disposed over one of the axles, a rectangular casing arranged over the opening, a drive-shaft journaled in the sides of the casing, a train of gears consisting of cog-wheels and pinions connecting the drive-shaft and the axle, and the crank-handles arranged at the ends of the drive-shaft" (lines 64-71).

Patent for improvements in suspension-bridge by using a combination of upper main cables reached from one pillar to the opposite pillar and anchored in the rear side of the pillars. A pair of lower cables at each side of the bridge; each pair being crossed at the center of the A-shaped or angular girders, these girders are bent for use as receiving hooks to form vertical stays. A series of girders hold the upper and lower cables in position thus making the bridge strong, light and rigid span. Illustration is included.
