The timing circuit captures changes in transit time, representing small changes in the velocity of sound transmitted, over necessarily small time intervals (nanoseconds) and uses the transit time changes to identify the presence of non-conforming constituents in the sample.

This mechanical device is lightweight, efficient and easy to repair. It can adapt to various similar tasks such as bending iron beams.
