Patent for "a new and useful composition of matter for concrete tombstones and a process for manufacturing the same whereby a perfectly white substantial rock will be produced that will be very durable, will not be liable to peeling, cracking, or turning dark, but will bleach out in the weather and become very solid, so as to form a permanent and substantial tombstone." A nondestructive method, and associated apparatus, are provided for determining the grain flow of the grains in a convex curved, textured polycrystalline surface. The convex, curved surface of a polycrystalline article is aligned in a horizontal x-ray diffractometer and a monochromatic, converging x-ray beam is directed onto the curved surface of the polycrystalline article so that the converging x-ray beam is diffracted by crystallographic planes of the grains in the polycrystalline article. The diffracted x-ray beam is caused to pass through a set of horizontal, parallel slits to limit the height of the beam and thereafter. The linear intensity of the diffracted x-ray is measured, suing a linear position sensitive proportional counter, as a function of position in a direction orthogonal to the counter so as to generate two dimensional data. An image of the grains in the curved surface of the polycrystalline article is provided based on the two-dimensional data.

The present invention relates to highly corrosion resistant components for use in an electrochemical cell. Specifically, these components are resistant to corrosion under very extreme conditions such as exposure to aqua regia in the presence of a constant current density of 100mA/m{sup 2}. The components are comprised of an iridium-platinum alloy that comprises less than 30% iridium. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the iridium-platinum alloy comprises 15-20% iridium. In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the iridium-platinum alloy is deposited on the surface of an electrochemical cell component by magnetron sputtering. The present invention also relates to a method for conducting an electrochemical reaction in the presence of highly corrosive acids under a high degree of polarization wherein the electrochemical cell comprises a component, preferably the anode, containing an iridium-platinum alloy that comprises less than 30% iridium.

Patent for a propelling device for aerial ships which operates by forcing air through a tube, creating suction and exerting propulsion. Illustrations included.

Patent for extracting sulfur that is being mined from the stratum that has the minerals. A fluid medium, such as air or a heated liquid, is forced into the stratum which assists with the elevation of the liquid mineral. As the minerals come up the heated tubes, the liquefied minerals are sent into vats.

Patent for a mowing machine. This invention is designed to attach to mowers of various sizes in order to divide material along a proper line of swath and guide it over the cutting-bar.

Patent for improvements in mowing-machines by “providing a simplified means of applying the power direct to the cutter-bar by means of levers and connections,” (lines 16-18) in which will result in an easily run and quieter machine. Illustration is included.

Patent for improvements in tire-heater by using a tire box with a number of horizontal bars, tires are placed “into the front of the box and moved into correct position upon the horizontal bars without necessarily lifting the tires.” (Lines 29-32) Diverging arms are secured to the axis inside the tire box. Lamps are secured at the outer ends of the diverging arms. These diverging arms operate by a regulating crank which makes the lamps revolved beneath the tires, therefore heating the tires. Patent for "means of which trolley-wires may be made to cross each other without contact and at the same time admit of the passage of trolley-wheels over each of the cross-lines." (Lines 11-15) Includes instructions and illustrations.
