Wagstaff acknowledges Carswell's 82nd birthday expressing his appreciation for the work he did in behalf of the community throughout the years. He briefly outlines Carswell's accomplishments as Secretary of The Abilene Chamber of Commerce from 1924-1939 focusing on his work regarding roads and highways and the water supply for Abilene, Texas.

A letter written to Mr. Forister from T. N. Carswell, dated October 22, 1957. Carswell requests a favor of Forister to deliver candy to the Czichos family and advises of a check which he has attached to the letter.

A letter addressed to Glenn R. Klopfenstein, Chief, Bureau of Probation and Parole, Columbus 15, Ohio from Jack Ross, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact (by Maizie Toungate, Acting Chief), Parole Division, Board of Pardons and Paroles, Texas, dated October 22, 1954. Toungate replies to an investigation request dated September 3, 1954 and affirms the willingness of the State of Texas to accept a subject for supervision advising that the placement of subject will be in Abilene, Texas. Toungate requests that they instruct the subject to report to T. N. Carswell.

A letter written to Legionnaire T. N. Carswell, Fifth Division Commander, The American Legion, from Harry E. Rather, Department Adjutant, Austin, Texas, dated October 22, 1942. Rather expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell in which he wished him success in his new responsibility and assures Carswell of his comprehension of the big job ahead. He confirms the supplies requested by Carswell are being sent under separate cover.

A letter written to Miss Velma Parsons, Austin, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated October 22, 1942. Carswell expresses his appreciation for being included in the dinner invitation at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Noe.

A form letter addressed to Commander from Charlie Maisel, Department Commander, Phillips, Texas, dated October 22, 1942. Form letter from Maisel to Commanders elected for the coming year. Pep talk regarding the extra work required as leader due to the war. A request that the Posts assist the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine in their recruiting program. Advisement that their Civilian Defense program will be enlarged, their Rehabilitation program will function; that they are preparing to take in their own sons.

Letter from McDonald Meachum to Senator W. J. Bryan thanking Mr. Bryan for the clipping he sent and sharing some of the memories it brought back to him. Mr. Meachum also discusses some of the events that occurred in his life along with the details of his previous travels.

Letter to Thomas Sayles notifying him that he owes J. W. Robinson money that is past due. The writer asks for advice on why it has not been paid and informs Sayles that he has the opportunity to pay before further action is taken.

Page & Company to Dock Dilworth Parramore discussing advice on legal technicalities regarding the corporate existence of the San Simon Cattle and Canal Company and the water rights to the Cienega Ditch property. A handwritten note on the back of the last page reads, "Letter in regard to water rights and keeping ditch open. D. D. P."

Letter written to K.K. Legett in Abilene Texas from J.W. Ward, Division Superintendent at the Texas and Pacific Railway Company. The letter says: "In reference to your letters to Maj. Abrams relative to a crossing near Elmdale, have instructed Mr. Stamper, our Roadmaster, to meet you at Abilene Dec. 27th., and go over the situation with you."

Letter from C. I. Walls to Truett Latimer inviting him and other House of Representatives members from West Texas to visit Lubbock on behalf of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and Representatives J. O. Gillham, Jesse M. Osborne, and Goerge S. Berry. Walls writes that he has included a program for Latimer's visit and asks him to fill out the appropriate space as to whether or not he will participate in the visit.

Letter from WASP Cornelia Yerkes discussing delays while ferrying a plane, a bomber pilot who participated in Operation Tidal Wave, a night in Juarez, and waiting in El Paso for clearance to continue on her trip. Written on Hilton Hotels stationary.
