Carswell suggests that a select committee, statewide in scope, be set up for the sole purpose of seeing to it that each Congressional District is put in order as vacancies occur, or as may now exist.

Shindler advises that he noticed Carswell had resigned as the Chamber of Commerce Secretary and requests to know of his plans for the future. He offers his very best wishes in any thing that Carswell undertakes.

Haddock issues an invitation to Carswell to attend the Convention of the 16th District, The American Legion, at Odessa, Texas.

A postcard addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, 5th Division Commander, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, postmarked JUNCTION TEX. OCT 8 1942. The reverse side includes correspondence to T. N. Carswell from W. R. Gilliam Adjutant, Burt Fleming Post 237, Junction Texas dated October 8, 1942. Gilliam acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell dated September 26, 1942 and requests the names of the District Membership Chairmen explaining, the job being new to him and with dead Posts that will be hard to revive, that any hints from Carswell would be appreciated.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from a parolee/inmate in Huntsville, Texas, dated October 8, 1955. Subject No. 108,345 discusses the decision made by the Board regarding his parole having been turned down and advises Carswell of the decision he made to make the best of his time in prison. The reverse side includes notes handwritten by Carswell indicating that on December 14, 1955 he answered the correspondence from Subject No. 108,345 on October 8, 1955. He talked to Mr. Turner while in Austin on December 2, 1955 noting that Turner would look into the file and give any conclusion to the Board.
