In the note, Woodward says that this station is located about two miles from the center of the city.

This building is made of brick and has its garage doors open with a chain spanned across the entrance and a fire truck inside of it; in the background there is a bell tower on top of the building.

Postcard from J. D. Smith to George Pendexter with a photograph of one of the fire stations in Hamilton, Ontario. Smith notes he is from Battle Creek, Michigan on the card while the photograph was taken in Hamilton. The caption on the photograph tells us that this is "Truck No. 1 Central Fire Station" being photographed; there are 12 men that make up this company, nine of whom are standing in front of the long wagon loaded with ladders, while two are sitting in the driver's seat and one is sitting at the very back of the ladders.

The hand written caption on the image reads "The 'Chuck' Wagon". The inscription on the back reads: " Dear Nettie: How are you these days? Are you going to school this year? I will leave Saturday night for Georgetown to enter school. I wish you were going with me. I have been very busy getting ready. I wish I could pass thru in the day so I could see you but can't make connections [illegible]. Miss Nettie King Vernon Tex."
