Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "The last passenger board a bus that led a caravan of Oklahoma County Democrats to Tulsa Tuesday morning to greet Lady Bird Johnson. The flying "Lady Bird Special" dipped down into Oklahoma for two campaign stops Tuesday and the nation's first lady reported the president was keeping "a progressive course - meeting problems, not retreating from them." First Mrs. Lyndon Johnson motored to a rally at the new Tulsa Civic Center where she praised Oklahoma from oil to culture. then she headed for McAlester, changing to a small plane, to take part in Indian apprecation day with the leaders of five famous Indian tribes - the Choctaw, Cherokee, Chickasha, Creek and Seminole. On one of her earlier campaign trips to the west, Mrs. Johnson was adopted by the Crow Indian tribe in Montana. The word was out the Oklahoma Indians weren't going to be outdone. The president's wife strongly urged the election of young lawyer and state Sen. Fred Harris, who is fighting famous former University of Oklahoma football coach Bud Wilkinson for a seat in the U. S., Senate."
