Caption: "Brighter Traveling is available to motorists in US 66 by-pass from Classes Circle west to Ann Arbor since new white-way street lighting was turned on Friday. The first picture, taken after the lights had been installed but before they were turned on shows the lights of autos as they streaked along the dark paving. In the second picture taken shortly after the lights were turned on, the pavement is brightened by the new glow. The $71,000 lighting job installed by Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co., includes two hundred and five 20,000-lumen, mercury-vapor lights on 30-foot-hig steel lights. Most of the poles, located in the median strip are twin units, supporting two lights. At locations where the median is wider, two poles were used."
