Photograph taken for a newspaper owned by the Oklahoma Publishing Company. Caption: "Dr. R. T. Renwald of Omaha, a laboratory technician, after five years of experimental breeding has developed a brood of chickens without wings or toenails. According to Dr. Renwald, when chickens molt their wing feathers egg production is reduced to such an extent that the average yield per hen is but 50 eggs. Without wing feathers, chickens are not bothered by molting, and should produce 300 eggs per year. The chicken have only an inside toenail, and studs in place of wings. They cannot fly or scratch - thus saving the neighbors garden and their own energy."
