Nut Lock.

Patent for a new and improved nut-lock. This design "is an improvement in that class of nut-locks in which so-called 'jam-nuts' are turned up on the bolt against the nut to be locked; and the present invention lies, mainly, in the particular construction of the end or ends of the thread of the locking nut or washer by which to more securely and effectually lock the nut in place on the bolt" (lines 8-15).

Patent for a new and improved tire-tightener. This design "has for its object to improve the means for lifting the felly so as to permit the insertion of a washer between the felly and the spoke, so as to take up any slack or looseness that may have occurred, and thus tighten the tire on the felly" (lines 15-20). It consists, "with a block adapted to be clamped to a spoke and an adjusting-screw, of a jaw operated by said screw and having its upper portion extended or curved to one side and then bifurcated to form two arms, each of which is provided with a fork adapted to lie against the under face" (lines 39-46).

Patent for a new and improved belt. This design "relates to appliances used either instead of the usual suspenders or in addition thereto for supporting trousers, overalls, and similar garments upon the wearer's person" (lines 10-14). It "compris[es] a belt, a number of upwardly-extending rigid supporting-standards connected to said belt and each provided with a pivoted clamping-lever, and a number of rigid upwardly-extending extension-supports working telescopically in said standards and held in position by said clamping-levers" (lines 100-106).

This design consists in "a wrench-head having a handle and a longitudinal slot through the wrench-head, a slidable bar having a jaw moving in said slot, a rack upon said bar, a worm-wheel in the wrench-head, meshing with the rack, and a jaw upon the wrench-head, jointly with a screw-driver inserted in the end of the slidable bar, said wrench-head having a plane outer surrounding surface in proximity to the longitudinal slot" (lines 1-10).

Patent for a new and improved padlock. This design "has for its object to provide an improved lock which, while simple in construction and operation, is at the same time so constructed as to be proof against the possibility of picking by unauthorized persons, and one which when unlocked will automatically release itself from the object and which locks of itself when sprung together" (lines 7-15). It consists in "a locking-lever pivoted at its center in said casing and provided with a locking-pin at one end, adapted to engage the shackle-perforation, [and] a leaf-spring arranged within the casing" (lines 1-5).

It consists, "with the sweep curved in cross-section to form the central shovel-receiving seat, which is slotted opposite the rearwardly-disposed triangular sides or flanges, which latter are perforated near their lower ends and provided with their upper ends with curved slots, with which the perforations are concentric" (lines 55-62).

Patent for a new and improved gate latch. This design "will automatically lock the gate or door when swung closed and which will firmly hold the same, which can be readily opened by hand or otherwise" (lines 17-20). It consists in "[t]he latch consisting of the case, the two triangular catches, the transverse pivots therefor in the lower outer corners of the case, the rigid stops at the lower outer corners of the case to prevent outward swing of said catches, the inwardly and laterally extending arms at the upper inner end of said catches, and the horizontal lifting-bar normally resting on said pivots" (lines 24-32).
